About Us
The Division of Biological Sciences at the University of Tennessee brings together a wide array of faculty, researchers, and students from a wide array of biological disciplines. This includes faculty from three departments in the College of Arts and Sciences: The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and the Department of Microbiology. Collectively, this group publishes groundbreaking research across every facet of the biological sciences, and leverages that expertise to provide an immersive and transformative educational experience for our students.



Undergraduate Programs
The undergraduate degree in biological sciences can be completed with one of four concentrations:
- Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
- Microbiology
- Global Health
Students who major in biological sciences with one of these concentrations go on to successful careers in several areas, such as medicine, pharmacy, research, teaching, public health policy, agriculture, food safety, and genetics, to name a few.
We also offer an undergraduate minor in biological sciences, which is a perfect pairing for students in any number of scientific disciplines at the University of Tennessee, such as animal behavior, chemistry, physics and astronomy, or science, technology, health, and society.


Graduate Programs
Graduate students in biological sciences at the University of Tennessee enjoy access to world-class faculty, as well as top-notch research facilities and mentorship opportunities.
