Students pursuing a Biological Sciences major who have not officially declared their concentration will meet with the Advisor for Biological Sciences, Shanna Pendergrast (spender1@utk.edu). To schedule an appointment with Shanna log into your MyUTK account and click on the “GradesFirst” link found under the academic resources section of your home page. Once in the “GradesFirst” system, click the “Appointments for Advising and Other Academic Help” button and follow the prompts from there. Click on this handout to schedule an advising appointment to view detailed instruction on using the online system.
On the day of your scheduled appointment, please arrive at 404 Hesler 5-10 minutes early. If you are late for this appointment, you will have to reschedule. If you are unable to attend this appointment, please log back into the GradesFirst system to cancel and reschedule your appointment.
Please Note
GradesFirst opens appointment availability for three weeks at a time. Because appointments cannot be scheduled more than three weeks in advance, it may appear during busy registration periods that there are no appointments available for the rest of the semester. However, new appointments (for three weeks in the future) are made available each morning between 8:30am and 9:00am.
Registration: We make every effort to see students who need their advising holds cleared prior to their registration date. You can find your registration date by logging into your MyUTK account; you will see the exact date and time that you are eligible to register on the left side of the screen (in the tan bar). Please be patient and remember that meeting with Shanna sooner will not change your registration date.
